Wilson Kemp is a man living a lie in Billington, Pennsylvania. He's been in hiding for a long time, running from a terrible secret that has forced him to change his name, move to this small secluded town and abandon what had once been a stellar career. Once, he'd been a highly talented escape artist on the brink of fame and fortune, but now he's a broken down alcoholic scared of his own shadow. Mind you, he has good reason to be scared because his worst fear has finally caught up with him, and the sleepy little town of Billington is about to be declared a war zone.
With the aid of a malevolent evil entity trapped within an old wooden trunk, a stranger from Wilson's past has hunted him down; an insane fellow magician who will stop at nothing to get his twisted, bloody revenge. To survive, Wilson will have to conquer his own inner demons to fight his old enemy in a battle that will lead to the gates of death and beyond. To live, Wilson will have to accomplish the greatest magic trick of all time: escaping from the dark pit of Hell...
“Gord Rollo relishes turning his characters loose into a world very much like our own. Fear dwells within the shadows and corners of our own backyards, his vivid imagery striking and sometimes too close for comfort, tearing a hole in our reality and filing it with his uniquely dark vision. Strange Magic is a great book, a must read for all hardcore horror fans. - Jimmy Z Johnston, Horror-Web.com”
"Gord Rollo is one hell of a talent, and Strange Magic only solidifies that he has more than proven himself as a writer who's going to be around a long time scaring us with his stories. With Strange Magic, I feel compelled to have my health insurance company bill Rollo for increasing my blood pressure and making my stress level go up while reading this book. It's that damned scary and that damned good. If you haven't experienced Gord Rollo yet, you haven't experienced horror." - The Horror Review
"Strange Magic is a dark, twisted and only slightly supernatural tale of serial killers, magicians, and revenge...Wrapped up in carnival-like touches that never succeed in being jolly, but instead stay grotesquely skewed, Strange Magic is a solid, entertaining horror offering that's quite simply hard to put down." - Dark Scribe Magazine
"...will make the reader cringe and his flesh crawl right off his scalp." - Dread Central
"...An extremely well written book and one you should definitely add to your list of must reads for 2010." - Monsters of Filmland
