We are excited to open to public fiction submissions for the genres of horror, fantasy and science fiction! If you wish to submit please read the guidelines below completely before sending us your manuscript. Thank you!
We will only accept fiction for one of the three new lines if the fiction is 100% original. That means never published anywhere else, including other publishers, self-publishing, websites or blogs. Simultaneous submissions are fine, but no multiple submissions please.
Each book that is accepted for publication in Dark Regions Horror, Dark Regions Fantasy and Dark Regions Sci-Fi will have a Kickstarter/crowdfunding campaign associated with it. The campaigns will be created as a means for readers to preorder the book and to fully fund each project. Authors, artists, editors and everyone else involved in each book project will be asked to contribute to the campaign with videos, promotional efforts etc.
Crowdfunding campaigns aren't always favored by authors, so it's important to know before thinking about submitting that if your manuscript is accepted for publication in Dark Regions Horror, Dark Regions Fantasy or Dark Regions Sci-Fi a crowdfunding campaign will be associated with it.
Manuscripts of 100% original fiction, that means never before published on any blog, website, ebook platform or any other form of publication. Horror, fantasy, science fiction or any cross genres between will be considered for the three new lines.
Original ideas will be the most strongly considered. You can submit a zombie novel, but please give it an inventive twist or a very creative story arc. Remember that this book will have a crowdfunding campaign associated with it, so if the idea behind the book is "zombies take over the world" there's a good chance it won't be accepted.
Real characters and creative vision are sought. If there's at least one character (preferably the protagonist) that we can grow attached to and the journey you take us on is a creative one, that will increase your publication chances significantly!
Double-spaced, 1 inch margins, 12pt Times New Roman font, but use italics, not underline. Word Docs only! (prefer .DOC over .DOCX or RTF)
Please refer to William Shunn’s Proper Manuscript Format for detailed instructions at: http://www.shunn.net/format/novel.html

Original novels, novellas, short story collections and anthologies of horror are welcome for consideration! 18,000 to 80,000 words, must belong in the horror genre (not all dark fiction is horror!). No reprints, no mulitple submissions.
We want scary/disturbing stories (this is horror, after all!). We do not want erotica or paranormal romance. Your story can have sub genres; thriller, crime, adventure, but the primary genre must be horror. Original ideas have the highest chance of publication. Classic monsters/rehashed plotlines/story arcs will be a tough sell if they don't have something original going on.
Send us horror that is scary, disturbing, original, well written with believable characters!
Have you read the submission guidelines in their entirety and have a manuscript of original horror fiction of at least 18,000 words you would like to send us? Please send your manuscript via e-mail with a subject line of "DRP Horror Sub: book title" to the following e-mail address: darkregionshorror AT gmail DOT com

We're looking for imaginative and original fantasy stories. While sword and sorcery/high fantasy are welcome, any stories with fantastical elements and creative ideas will be considered.
Send us fantasy that is creative, original, well written with believable characters!

Original novels, novellas, short story collections and anthologies of science fiction are welcome for consideration! 18,000 to 80,000 words, must belong in the science fiction genre, but sub genres are welcome. Science fiction horror is welcome, but make sure that science fiction is the primary genre. No reprints, no mulitple submissions.
We're looking for imaginative and original science fiction stories. Technically many stories can fall within science fiction, but in general we are seeking stories/manuscripts that have interesting science fiction elements. From Isaac Asimov to Philip K. Dick, we love our science fiction. Science fiction horror? We love that too! John Carpenter's The Thing, Event Horizon... if your science fiction has scares that will be celebrated.
Send us science fiction that is creative, original, well written with believable characters!

Dark Regions Press will be opening for submissions to the public in 2014 for the realms of horror, fantasy and science fiction! We will be considering manuscripts of only original fiction that has not been published anywhere else, including self-publishing, websites, blogs or other publishers. Because of this, most of the manuscripts we are likely to consider will be novellas/novels, but short story collections that include only original stories will also be considered.
To writers of horror, fantasy and science fiction: check back on this page in Q1 of 2014 for more information/news of when the submission guidelines will be released.
